Everything New In Connect Srmap Today

What We Changed Today

CONNECT SRMAP has received several improvements designed to make everyday tasks smoother, reduce waiting time, improve the login experience, and make important features easier to use.

This article provides a quick overview of the changes. The other articles in the CONNECT SRMAP Updates section explain each improvement in more detail, including how it works and what to do if you encounter a problem.

1. A Safer, Clearer Login Experience

The login page now guides you through three visible stages:

  • Scanning: A human-verification check runs when you open the login page.

  • Verifying: After you submit your details, the page indicates that your account is being checked.

  • Welcome: After a successful login, a green tick and a welcome message appear before the application opens.

The updated flow provides clearer feedback during login and includes measures intended to make automated password guessing more difficult.

The login page also uses a consistent error message for incorrect login details, helping avoid revealing whether a particular account exists.

2. Student Bind Has a New Home

Student Bind provides access to information such as:

  • Attendance

  • Timetable

  • Marks and grades

Previously, Bind data was stored alongside other platform information, including chats, posts, profiles, and notifications.

As CONNECT SRMAP grew, the workload associated with refreshing student information placed additional pressure on the shared database.

Bind information has now been moved to a separate database to help manage that workload independently.

The migration was intended to preserve existing student information. After the change, some pages still referenced the previous database location and required fixes. Those references were updated, and the affected pages were tested.

Expected benefit: Separating Bind data should help reduce competition between Bind operations and other platform features.

3. Faster University Data Synchronisation

Fetching attendance, timetable, and marks information from the university system could take longer than expected, particularly during busy periods.

The updated synchronisation process includes improvements intended to reduce unnecessary work and make progress easier to understand.

Changes include:

  • Measuring the time taken by different synchronisation steps.

  • Reducing repeated or unnecessary processing.

  • Reusing connections where appropriate.

  • Retrieving independent sections concurrently where possible.

  • Avoiding unnecessary database writes.

  • Refreshing commonly used information in the background on a daily basis.

If the university website is slow or unavailable, the application may continue displaying previously saved information while indicating that the latest refresh did not succeed.

4. A Better Experience on Laptops

The laptop interface has received several navigation and layout improvements.

AI side panel

The AI side panel can open automatically on supported laptop interfaces. If you close it, it is designed to remain closed for a period before opening automatically again. You can also open it manually using the available interface control.

Student Bind

Opening Bind from the main application takes you to the Bind home screen, where you can navigate to attendance, timetable, marks, and other available sections.

Direct links can still open their specific destinations.

Profile menu

The profile menu has been redesigned to make common actions easier to find, including:

  • View Profile

  • SRMAP Bind

  • Find Friends

  • Account Settings

  • Share app

  • Share page

  • Log Out

The menu also includes improvements for closing it, navigating its options, and displaying it on smaller screens.

5. Back Button and Swipe Improvements

Navigation behaviour has been improved to make moving between features and closing popups more predictable.

Back button

Chat and other full application tabs now participate in navigation history. When a conversation is open in the laptop Chat interface, pressing Back can close the conversation first before leaving the Chat tab.

The exact result still depends on how you reached the page and whether previous navigation history exists.

Swipe-down gestures

Popups that support swipe-down dismissal have been updated so that closing the popup also updates its visible state correctly.

The goal is to prevent a popup from appearing to remain open after the closing animation finishes.

6. Improvements to Admin Tools

The administrative interface has received additional tools for monitoring and configuration.

These include:

  • Pages for reviewing traffic and activity.

  • Tools for reviewing errors.

  • Security-related monitoring features.

  • A central place to configure the AI connection.

These tools are intended to make it easier for administrators to review platform behaviour and manage relevant configuration.

Administrative tools are separate from the features available to ordinary student accounts.

7. Common Questions After the Update

The Help Center also includes a troubleshooting guide for issues students may notice after an update.

It covers topics such as:

  • Login verification getting stuck.

  • Saved login details not appearing.

  • Bind opening on its home screen.

  • Attendance information appearing outdated.

  • AI panels opening automatically on laptops.

  • Back-button behaviour.

  • Popups that do not close as expected.

  • Reporting a problem clearly.

If you encounter an issue, check the relevant troubleshooting article before trying repeated actions that may not help.

Why Did We Make So Many Changes Together?

These improvements address different parts of the same student experience.

Separating Bind data helps manage database workload. Improving synchronisation reduces unnecessary processing. The login changes provide clearer feedback and introduce additional checks. Laptop and navigation improvements make features easier to reach and use.

Together, these changes are intended to make CONNECT SRMAP more consistent and manageable as the platform grows.

Some benefits depend on network conditions, university-system availability, and the device or browser being used. If something does not behave as expected, report it so the problem can be investigated.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. Do I need to do anything after the update?

Usually, no. Open CONNECT SRMAP as usual. You may need to log in again if your existing session has expired or the application requests authentication.

Q2. Has my student data been lost?

The migration was intended to preserve existing attendance history, timetable information, and marks. If your information appears missing or incorrect, refresh the relevant Bind page and check whether the information loads again. If the problem continues, contact support.

For authoritative academic records, use the official university student portal.

Q3. Why does the login page look different?

The login flow now displays scanning, account verification, and a welcome confirmation. These stages provide clearer feedback and support the updated verification process.

Q4. Why does Bind open on its home screen on my laptop?

The updated navigation is designed to open Bind within the application and start at its home screen. Select the section you need from the available Bind navigation options.

Q5. Why is my attendance not up to date?

The latest synchronisation may not have completed successfully. Refresh the relevant page once, check any displayed update status, and try again later if the university website is unavailable.

Q6. Will the AI panel always open automatically?

On supported laptop interfaces, the panel can open automatically. Closing it is designed to keep it closed for a period before it opens automatically again. Mobile and tablet behaviour may differ.

Q7. What should I do if the Back button or a popup does not work correctly?

Try the relevant navigation action once more. If the issue persists, note which page or popup was open and what happened, then email support.

Q8. What are the new admin tools for?

They help authorised administrators review traffic, investigate errors, monitor security-related activity, and configure the AI connection.

Q9. Is CONNECT SRMAP the official university portal?

No. CONNECT SRMAP is an independently developed student platform and is not the official university portal. For authoritative university academic records and official student services, visit https://student.srmap.edu.in/.

Q10. How can I report a problem after the update?

Email connectsrmap@purlyedit.in. Include the page name, what you expected to happen, what happened instead, and the approximate time of the issue. Never include your password or verification codes.
