Profile Photo

📌 Overview

The profile photo is the image shown on your CONNECT SRMAP student profile. You can upload a new photo, adjust and crop it, update an existing photo, or remove it completely.

⚙️ How to Upload or Update a Photo

Go to the photo settings page: https://oursrmap.purlyedit.in/settings/photo.php.

Click Upload New Photo or Update Photo and choose an image from your device.

You can select a supported image format. The system will automatically convert the image to JPEG when needed.

Use the built‑in editor to adjust and crop your photo.

Before uploading, the system automatically compresses the image to reduce its file size and save storage space while keeping the photo clear.

During processing, you will see the following steps:

  1. Reading your image
  2. Converting image to JPEG
  3. Compressing your image
  4. Uploading your photo

The system will show the original image size and the compressed size after compression.

Click Save to upload and apply the changes.

📏 Image Requirements & Automatic Compression

Maximum original upload size: 20 MB.

Common image formats are supported when your device/browser can open them.

Images that are not JPEG are automatically converted to JPEG.

Images are automatically compressed before being uploaded.

You do not need to manually convert or compress your image.

The system reduces the file size as much as possible while maintaining good visual quality.

The final profile photo is stored as a compressed JPEG to help reduce server storage usage.

  • Recommended dimensions: 400 × 400 px for the best profile‑photo appearance.
  • Use a clear and appropriate image that represents you.

🔄 Example of How It Works

Original image: 10 MB
                    ↓
Automatic conversion: JPEG
                    ↓
Crop/adjust: 400 × 400 px
                    ↓
Automatic compression: 450 KB
                    ↓
Upload: 450 KB compressed JPEG

The exact compressed size depends on the original image, its dimensions, and its content. A large image can often be reduced significantly before it is stored.

❌ Removing Your Current Photo

On the photo settings page, click Remove Photo.

Confirm the action when prompted.

Your profile will revert to the default placeholder image.
